The 3 Kilometers Trek to Kartikswamy Temple from Kanakchouri village is an easy and doable by any medically fit persons of all age group from 10 to 60 Years. Located in the lap of Uttrakhand Himalayas at an elevation of 3050 M above sea, it offers a mesmerising view of 180 degree Himalayan Panorama. Kartikswamy temple a hidden Jewel in the Crown of Uttrakhand and is dedicated to Lord Kartikeya, the elder son of Lord Shiva and is the only temple of Lord Kartikeyan in northern part of India that too is in Uttrakhand.

The trek cuts through dense forest to a stare cased ridge to reach to the top and temple arena. View of sunrise from the temple arena is breath-taking, enjoy glitering views of snow laden Himalayan peaks in golden lights, and behold the lifetime memories of Garhwal Himalayas.

Array of the most prominent Himalayan Peaks visible from this site are (West to East). It’s a rare encounter that you never seen before.


Trekking Advisory


  • Walk with ease, do not hurry (you are not into a race). Walking stick helps.
  • Be in the group, don’t be left alone or walk alone.
  • Remain Hydrated, take ample water.
  • Use Head Gear (Cap/ Hat to protect you from Sun).
  • Use dark glasses to protect your eyes (In snow it is must).
  • Ensure safety before taking a selfie.

  • Keep a Garbage bag along with you, bring it back to the Base to dispose it off properly.

» Leave Haridwar by 6.00 AM to reach Kanakchauri well before by evening covering a distance of 211 Kms (approx.) in 10 plus hrs, which is on Rudraprayag – Pokhri route of Rudrapray district in Uttrakhand.

Enjoy your drive all along the river Ganges at Rishikesh, Shivpuri, Khodiyala leaving it at Deoprayag, the confluence of Bhagirathi & Alaknanda, there after along the river Alaknanda up to Rudraprayag, the confluence of Mandakini & Alaknanda. The natural beauty all along the drive keep you amazed.

» Trekking Distance: 3 to 3.5 Kms (2 Plus hrs.)
» Drive back to Haridwar via Augstmuni.

» Trekking Distance: 3 - 3.5 Kms (4 Plus hrs.)
» Kanakchauri village is situated at an elevation of 1800 M ASL.
» Kartikswamy Temple is situated at an elevation of 3050 M ASL.
