Tungnath Chandrasila Trek
Chopta is a Himalayan hamlet nestled on the Ukhimath- Gopeshwar route. It is easily accessible and well connected with motorable road, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers, pilgrims, and trekkers alike. It is believed that the area's unspoiled beauty, which includes meadows, rhododendron forests, and a panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks, is said to be a manifestation of the Gods' presence.
An easy and moderate trek of 3-4 Kms to Tungnath Serene, expandable to Chandrashila offers a breath-taking view of Himalayan Peaks and lush green meadows.
Reaching Chandrashila before sunrise is perfect way to catch the glimpse of the majestic Himalayan peaks soaked in golden sunrays. It offers Landscaper’s Delight.
According to Hindu legend Tungnath is where the arms of Lord Shiva are said to have appeared, while other parts appeared at other Panch Kedar temples like Kedarnath, Rudranath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar. Another legend states that Lord Rama meditated at Tungnath to seek penance after defeating the demon king Ravana.
Trekking Advisory
- Walk with ease, do not hurry (you are not into a race). Walking stick helps.
- Be in the group, don’t be left alone or walk alone.
- Remain Hydrated, take ample water.
- Use Head Gear (Cap/ Hat to protect you from Sun).
- Use dark glasses to protect your eyes (In snow it is must).
- Ensure safety before taking a selfie.
