Har Ki Doon
Har Ki Dun trek is one of the most beautiful and picturesque trek of Garhwal Himalayas of Uttrakhand which starts from hamlet Sankri needs no introduction. The trail passes through dense forests of rhododendron, pine & oak, beautiful meadows, and antiquated villages.
Cradle shaped like valley is surrounded by towering snow clad mountain peaks, lush green meadows and glacial rivers. Because of its legendary significance, it is often referred as the "Valley of Gods".
Legends has to say Pandavas of Mahabharata fame, who took the same route to ascend to heaven via Swargarohini Peak.
Trekkers always plodded upon this trek to witness the Swargarohini group of Himalayan Peaks. April – June and September – November are the best time to plan this trek. Lush greenery and blooming flowers can be enjoyed during Spring, while clear views of snow clad mountains with blue sky in the background can be enjoyed during September to November. December – February (Winter Trek) offers snow laden landscapes for trekkers.
Trekking Advisory
- Walk with ease, do not hurry (you are not into a race). Walking stick helps.
- Be in the group, don’t be left alone or walk alone.
- Remain Hydrated, take ample water.
- Use Head Gear (Cap/ Hat to protect you from Sun).
- Use dark glasses to protect your eyes (In snow it is must).
- Ensure safety before taking a selfie.
Ecological Advisory
- Keep Himalaya Clean.
- Do not litter around.
- Keep a Garbage bag along with you, bring it back to the Base to dispose it off properly.
Trekkers can explore the local lifestyle, culture, and wooden craftsmanship at the traditional villages of Sankri, Taluka, and Osla. It is a Moderate Level Trek, suitable for beginners with good physical fitness and nature lovers, but involves long walking hours.
