Har Ki Doon

Har Ki Dun trek is one of the most beautiful and picturesque trek of Garhwal Himalayas of Uttrakhand which starts from hamlet Sankri needs no introduction. The trail passes through dense forests of rhododendron, pine & oak, beautiful meadows, and antiquated villages.

Cradle shaped like valley is surrounded by towering snow clad mountain peaks, lush green meadows and glacial rivers. Because of its legendary significance, it is often referred as the "Valley of Gods".

Legends has to say Pandavas of Mahabharata fame, who took the same route to ascend to heaven via Swargarohini Peak.

Trekkers always plodded upon this trek to witness the Swargarohini group of Himalayan Peaks. April – June and September – November are the best time to plan this trek. Lush greenery and blooming flowers can be enjoyed during Spring, while clear views of snow clad mountains with blue sky in the background can be enjoyed during September to November. December – February (Winter Trek) offers snow laden landscapes for trekkers.



Trekking Advisory


  • Walk with ease, do not hurry (you are not into a race). Walking stick helps.
  • Be in the group, don’t be left alone or walk alone.
  • Remain Hydrated, take ample water.
  • Use Head Gear (Cap/ Hat to protect you from Sun).
  • Use dark glasses to protect your eyes (In snow it is must).
  • Ensure safety before taking a selfie.

Ecological Advisory


  • Keep Himalaya Clean.
  • Do not litter around.
  • Keep a Garbage bag along with you, bring it back to the Base to dispose it off properly.

Trekkers can explore the local lifestyle, culture, and wooden craftsmanship at the traditional villages of Sankri, Taluka, and Osla. It is a Moderate Level Trek, suitable for beginners with good physical fitness and nature lovers, but involves long walking hours.

Har Ki Doon Trek Itinerary



» Leave Dehradun by 6.00 AM to reach Sankri by 4.00 PM. Approximately 266 Kms of drive in 10 plus hours. Sankri is situated at an altitude of 1950 m / 6400 ft ASL (Above Sea Level).

» Trek for 8 Kms (5 plus hrs) to reach Kalkattiyadhar.

» Kalkattiyadhar is situated at an altitude of 3000 m/ 9850 Ft. ASL

» Trek for 8 Kms (5 hrs). Enjoy the descend of 500 m/ 1650 Ft.

» Pauni Garaat is situated at an altitude: 2487 m/ 8160 Ft. ASL

» Travel by Road. Leave Sankri by 6.00 AM to reach Dehradun by 4.00 PM. Approximately 266 Kms of drive in 10 plus hours.

» Enjoy the descend carefully. Watch your knees (use knee caps) and toes (cut nails of your toes properly before start of the trek).

1. Keep the original and copy of ID proof handy.
2. Pick up will be from Haridwar Railway Station by 6.00 AM.
3. As we are reaching Haridwar by Late Evening 8.00 PM and so. Make your further travel plans which suits you the best.

» Trek for 10 Kms (5-6 plus hrs) to reach Pauni Garaat. Altitude 2487 m/ 8160 Ft ASL.

» Trek for 10 Kms (8 – 9 hrs).

» Maximum Altitude attend today 3600 m/ 11800 Ft. ASL

» Trek for 10 Kms (5-6 hrs) to reach Taluka. Altitude: 2109 m/ 6919 Ft. ASL

» 12 Kms of drive in One Hour to reach village Sankri. Altitude: 1950 m/ 6400 FT. ASL
